The Howard Hanson Award is a certificate of merit for high school senior year pianists who exhibit a high standard of musical performance through their pianistic skills during an adjudication process where students play three diverse musical styles for a jury of 10 teachers. The award is presented annually at a formal winner’s recital and later at their school’s award ceremony.
